FAQ

Here are answers to many of the frequently asked questions about Search2Post plugin for WordPress.

What does Search2Post actually do ?

Search2Post comes with a sidebar “search” widget, that is intended to replace the standard search box on your blog/site.

When a visitor to your site types in a search, then Search2Post creates a new post (or page, you specify which you want) with content based on the keyword that the visitor entered, and then displays that new page/post to the visitor.

Each visitor that enters a search therefore creates new unique (and relevant) content for your site, that is indexed by the search engines.

So, at its heart it is an auto-content generator plugin for WordPress

Do I have control over the auto-content?

You certainly do. The auto-content is generated from a “template” file that you make for yourself. It uses special notation to instruct Search2Post how to spin the content for you.

You can spin content to any depth that you like.

Full instructions on using the content spinner are in the downloadable user manual.

Can I control the resulting pages/posts ?

Yes.

You most certainly can. You have complete control over the page (or post) that Search2Post creates for you.

The layout, and the content, of the new page is control by way of an external HTML template that you can customize 100%.

You can even create a CSS style sheet specifically for the output template.

So the look of your resulting page/post is limited only by your own creativity and imagination.

Can I keep the new pages and posts separate ?

Yes.

If you have configured the plugin to auto-create you new pages, then you can specify a “parent” page for each new auto-created page.

If you configure it to make you posts, then you can specify a category in which all new posts are created.

Will all the new pages have the same content ?

No.

Search2Post comes with its own small, easy to use, scripting language that allows you to create a template that results in literally thousands upon thousand of different random unique content.

What if someone uses swear words in the search box ?

Within the configuration screen of the plugin you can enter a complete comma separated list of words that you do not wish people to enter.

The plugin then removes all of these profanity words from the visitor entered keywords before building the new page/post.

How do I know when a visitor has created a new page/post ?

The plugin will automatically send you a notification email for each new page/post created.

This email contains the keywords that the visitor entered, a clickable URL link to the new page/post, a clickable URL link that will take you into edit mode on that page/post (for quick and easy editing or deletion), and also the IP address of the person who created the new page/post.

What about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) of new pages/posts ?

Search2Post plugin FULLY supports the very popular All-In-One-SEO-Pack plugin, and AUTOMATICALLY populates the correct AIOSP database fields if you have that plugin installed (and you really should have).

So your new pages/posts will be as search engine optimized as the rest of your site.

Are all my new pages/posts automatically indexed by search engines ?

By default … Yes.

If you do not want your new pages/posts to be indexed immediately, then you can specify this in the plugin configuration screen, and all of your new posts/pages are then marked as “noindex”, until you manually edit them and make them indexable to the search engines.

This is a very handy feature if you wish to edit their content before allowing the SE’s to index them.
